I am experienced in designing technical products, complex assemblies and systems of products, for regulated industries. Over the recent years, I have successfully designed Personal Protective Equipment, namely respiratory protection, hearing protection, head and face protection, fall protection devices and safety footwear for workers in hazardous environments. Many of these are wearable items, with focus on comfort and ergonomics, integration into the user’s workflow, and meeting international regulatory standards.
I also gathered some domain knowledge on healthcare systems, exoskeletons and gas detection systems.
I am recognized as effective facilitator for creative workshops and driving innovation.
In the first half of my career, I have gathered experience in automotive exterior and interior design, as well as consumer products and packaging design.
I pride myself in contributing to projects from the definition of the design brief (in-person VOC) through to the market launch. I am comfortable working on product portfolios and platforms, as well as on stand-alone items. I always integrate technical constraints into my designs from the creative start, to deliver the best possible perceived quality and craftsmanship from any manufacturing technology.
Design is putting the right purpose into the right context.
I believe in teamwork. Product development is a multi-disciplinary collaboration, with questions, suggestions, debates, errors, apologies and new conclusions. Design is an iterative process, in a cross-functional project team. I practice and expect radical candor, to reach the best of our combined skills.
I strive to clarify the design brief and your product portfolio strategy. To do so, I focus on understanding the context and the use-case, the workflow to fit in, the role to fulfill, the problem to solve, and what can be done about it. This is done by in-person VOC, online surveys, desktop research, expert interviews.
I facilitate creative thinking and innovation by connecting the dots, applying tools and methods to propel the team towards novel solutions.
I foster practical solutions that get launched on the market, for real users.
I prefer human-centered solutions that solve meaningful problems of real people. I am interested in - and would rapidly adapt to - the design of professional tools and machinery, medical or veterinary equipment, sports equipment, vehicle interior and controls, vehicle architecture and exterior design. I avoid contributing to projects that have an unethical or intentional military purpose. I gladly tackle topics such as environmental sustainability and business model innovation.
